Ron Tatro
( American, contemporary )

Untitled, 1988

Original pained metal sculpture. Unique work. In very good condition.

Dimentions: 32" x 32" x 18"

In 1966, Tatro received a Master's degree in art from Southern Illinois University. Two years later, he moved to California and initiated a well-respected sculpture program at a local college. In addition to teaching, he now chairs the art department.

Tatro's early training as a painter gives his sculptures a strong painterly dynamic. To bold, black bases he adds colorful, brushstroke-like accents that seem to defy gravity. His sculptures range in scale from small and intimate to large and commanding and, because of the strength of the materials, they can be exhibited both indoors and outdoors.

Tatro's sculptures appear in numerous public and private collections across the United States and Europe, including the collection of the San Jose Museum of Art. His work has been featured in one-man shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Switzerland, Austria and Holland. Throughout the 1990's, he has consistently won major commissions for public sculptures.
