Original bronze sculpture from the edition of 12. Signature, date and edition number incised on the base. Dimensions: H: 36" x W: 15 1/4" x D: 10 1/4" Jeffrey Van Dyke was born in Shasta County, California in 1959. He began sculpting in his twenties while completing graduate studies in structural engineering. He began exhibiting in 2001, following seventeen years of self-directed study in the history, materials, and techniques of sculpture. His strongest influences are 16 th Century Italian, 20 th Century French and contemporary Mexican artists. "By modeling the undraped figure in a realistic style, free of props... and by eliminating color and avoiding a refined finish, I attempt to play down the surface and thus emphasize the human essence." These original sculptures are first modeled in wax with an internal steel armature. They are then cast in silicon bronze with a black patina and black granite base.
